Southern Epilepsy & EEG Society Annual Meeting

Please join us at The Mills House Hotel in Charleston, SC for the annual meeting of the Southern Epilepsy & EEG Society on June 3rd - 5th, 2011. This year we are planning for another outstanding scientific program featuring exceptional speakers, selected for their expertise in each respective area of research in neurology and epileptology. Additionally, please check the local Charleston calendar of events, as our meeting will take place during the Annual Spoleto Arts Festival. We will be in the center of the Historic District, so there will be lots going on and it will be an exciting time to be in Charleston!

Educational Symposia

The Annual Meeting will deliver two comprehensive Symposia on controversial issues in epilepsy. As in previous years, this meeting will offer a venue for learning and discussion. This meeting will cover topics including a discussion based on our selection criteria for resective surgery survey, as well as pharmacogenomics, and traumatic brain injury and epilepsy. Symposium one will be devoted to pharmacogenomics. In this symposium speakers will present on the basics, practical applications, and implications for future use in the clinic.

The second symposium will address traumatic brain injury (TBI) and epilepsy. Included in presentations and discussion sessions, we will cover prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, medical, and surgical management of patients with TBI. Expert faculty will present each topic.

The meeting program will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday (June 3rd) and conclude by 12:00 p.m. Sunday (June 5th).

Please take a moment to contribute to our program by completing the Epilepsy Surgery Practice Assessment. The completed survey can be emailed to ursulink@uab.edu or faxed to the attention of Jennifer Howell at: (205) 975-6255.

Epilepsy/EEG Fellows Program

The Annual Meeting this year will continue the successful fellows epilepsy program launched in 1996. It provides fellows from national epilepsy centers an opportunity to present clinically unusual or difficult cases to an audience of epileptologists. The fellows can experience a discussion or debate involving specialists from several centers. To date over 76 fellows have attended the Fellow Program of the SEEEG Society.
