Welcome Colleagues:
Thank you for your interest in the Southern Epilepsy and EEG Society. It is my honor and privilege to serve as this year's president of the SEEEG Society. This association, founded in 1948, has a long standing commitment to promoting excellence in the practice and knowledge of clinical epilepsy and electrophysiology through education to healthcare providers at all levels of expertise. As a regional rather than national organization, the size of the SEEG Society membership provides the opportunity for personal interaction with some of the most important names in the field of epilepsy.
The annual meeting of the SEEG Society is dedicated to providing an exceptional educational activity with in depth discussions of clinical topics, recent research findings and areas of controversy in the field. Didactic sessions foster less formal discourse and debate. These exchanges are always lively, educational and great fun!
The 2010 meeting promises to be exceptional. This year's meeting will be held June 4-June 6, 2010 at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina. Topics for this year's meeting include 1) status epilepticus-mechanisms, EEG findings and treatment; and 2) alternative treatments of epilepsy. Both topics are currently of great interest in the field of epilepsy and EEG. This will provide a great opportunity to hear the most recent developments from leading epileptologists The traditional fellows program will include presentations of interesting clinical cases and EEG studies by clinical neurophysiology fellows. I invite fellows from any training program to submit cases for review for possible presentation at the meeting.
The Grove Park Inn is a lovely venue set in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. There will be time during the meeting to explore the area including the art and galleries of Asheville and outdoor activities such as hiking.
The commitment to education of the SEEEG Society is not restricted to the annual meeting. The web site is under continuous development to provide high quality CME and other educational opportunities. I hope you will visit the site and review the offerings.
Thank you again for your interest in the Southern Epilepsy and EEG Society. Even though we are officially a regional organization, we welcome members and meeting attendees from all areas of the United States and internationally. My personal association with the society began when I was in practice in Chicago, hardly a southern region! Ours is a truly wonderful professional association and we would be pleased to have you join us. I hope to see you in Asheville!
With warm regards,
