Esteemed Colleagues:

Thank you for your interest in the Southern Epilepsy and EEG Society. It is my honor and privilege to serve as this year's president of the SEEEG Society. This association, founded in 1948, has a long standing commitment to promoting excellence in the practice and knowledge of clinical epilepsy and electrophysiology through education to healthcare providers at all levels of expertise. As a regional organization, the size of the SEEG Society membership provides the opportunity for personal interaction with some of the most important names in the field of epilepsy.

The annual meeting of the SEEG Society is dedicated to providing an exceptional educational activity with in depth discussions of clinical topics, recent research findings and areas of controversy in the field. Didactic sessions foster less formal discourse and debate. These exchanges are always good-humored and lively, yes, and even educational!

This year, the annual meeting will be held in Charleston, South Carolina, from June 3rd-5th. The 2011 meeting offers several interesting symposia. Friday, Dr. Edwards will present data and moderate the discussion regarding a survey of several epilepsy centers about selection criteria for temporal and extratemporal resective surgeries.

The Saturday morning symposium will cover Pharmacogenomics in Epilepsy, while the Sunday morning session is about Post-traumatic Epilepsy. Both topics are currently of great interest in the field of epilepsy and EEG. This meeting provides a great opportunity to hear the most recent developments from leading epileptologists and epilepsy researchers. The traditional fellows program will be held on Saturday afternoon and will include presentations of interesting clinical cases and EEG studies by clinical neurophysiology fellows from Epilepsy Surgery programs.

Charleston is an historic and vibrant city with Southern flare and hospitality. While attending the meeting you will be able to take part in the Spoleto Festival which sponsors theater, concerts, and other cultural programs from morning 'til next morning.

The commitment to education of the SEEEG Society is not restricted to the annual meeting. The web site is under continuous development to provide high quality CME and other educational opportunities. I hope you will visit the site and review the offerings.

Thank you again for your interest in the Southern Epilepsy and EEG Society. Even though we are officially a regional organization, we welcome members and meeting attendees from all areas of the United States.

Hope to see you there!
